Helga M. Carson is one of the founding partners of Rose Carson Kaplan Choi & White LLP. She has been practicing exclusively in the area of immigration and nationality law for 18 years. Prior to founding her own practice in 1992, Helga was an associate at a business immigration law firm in San Jose, Calfornia. Her focus is employment-based petitions, including H-1Bs, L-1s, TNs, O-1s, labor certifications, immigrant visa petitions and applications for adjustment of status. She has successfully completed petitions for start-ups and public companies throughout the U.S. She has also assisted numerous foreign nationals obtain permanent residence through the Extraordinary Ability, Outstanding Researcher, and National Interest Waiver categories, and to obtain US citizenship.
Helga has been an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), a Washington-based national immigration lawyers group, for over 12 years. She has served in a number of capacities with the local chapter of AILA, including twice as the chapter liaison to the U.S. Department of Labor and the Employment Development Department. She has conducted immigration education seminars and has written articles for immigration publications. She also has been a guest lecturer at Santa Clara University.
Helga Carson attended Stanford University as an undergraduate where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations. She studied law at the University of California, Davis, and became a member of the California Bar in 1989.
